Matt is leaving soon to go back to the US after a year as a volunteer with Black Star Surf Shop. We are all going to miss him!
Matt is not only a great guy to have around, but worked really hard to make all kinds of improvements at the surf shop and with our restaurant.
Here is a short list of some of Matt’s accomplishments while at Black Star; 1) a killer tan, 2) developed a new system for dealing with supplies for the restaurant, 3) came up with idea for a bamboo ceiling in the surf shop (looks really cool!), 4) now has the ability to barter with the best of them, 5) helped organized Black Star’s private surf tour program, 5) helped continue to organize our surf camps and tours, 6), learned a little Fanti and Ahanta (kakakakra), 7) was brave enough to drive the Black Star van in Ghana, even Accra, and lastly, 8) he’s a much better surfer now!
Matt accomplished a lot more than the things mentioned about and his commitment has been invaluable in helping us continue to make improvements so that we have one of the coolest surf scenes in the world. If you want to contact Matt you can email him at [email protected].
